DIY Essential Oil Blends to Keep Your Beard Healthy

Beards are definitely “envogue” these days, but they do require a little maintenance to stay healthy-looking. Aromatherapy essential oils are the perfect all-natural solution for keeping you smelling and feeling good. When combined with carrier oils, they are perfect for conditioning and softening without irritating the skin.

Don’t let your beard get scraggly, itchy or dry. Try one of our suggested formulas below or mix and match your favorite essential oils to keep it soft and healthy!

Always Mix Essential Oils with Carrier Oils

When using oils topically for any reason, always use a carrier oil and test a small patch of skin before using, since some oils can irritate the skin.

To make your own DIY beard oil, you first need a carrier oil in which to dilute pure essential oils. We recommend using a ratio of a few drops of essential oil per tablespoon of carrier oil.

All of these natural carrier oils will work to moisturize and condition your skin and beard.

  • Almond oil
  • Coconut oil
  • Argan oil
  • Jojoba oil

You’ll also want to purchase a few dark-colored, glass bottles to mix your personalized blends in as they will keep the integrity of the oils over time.

The Best Essential Oils for Facial Hair

When you make your own beard oils, you can mix and match to personalize your scent. Plus, all of our all-natural pure essential oils have a wide range of other uses, so you’re getting more “bang for your buck.”

When it comes to essential oils, everyone has different preferences. You may want to consider purchasing an essential oil kit if you’re just getting familiar with various smells and uses.

Most of these oils are excellent skin conditioners, and many of them have antibacterial properties.

Here are a few of our favorite essential oils for men’s beards:

  • Rosemary: woody scent, antiseptic, supports cell growth, helps clear mental fogginess
  • Cedarwood: calms skin, bug repellant, anti-inflammatory, anti-fungal, relieves stress
  • Frankincense: grounding, reduces acne, anti-aging, antiseptic, moisturizing
  • Tea Tree: antiseptic, anti-fungal, helps hair growth
  • Peppermint: hair growth, uplifting, good for oily skin, nourishing, anti-bacterial
  • Lavender: detoxing, soothing, antiseptic, gentle smell

For each of these blends, mix a few drops of your preferred oil per tablespoon of carrier oil and place the solution in a small glass bottle, then rolling it between your palms to gently mix it up. Then massage into the beard in the evening and wash out the next day.
