ArOmis’ cinnamon leaf essential oil is steam distilled from the leaves of the cinnamon tree (Cinnamomum verum). The plant is native to Sri Lanka and most of this type of cinnamon is produced in the region today. Most of us will recognize cinnamon as the warm, sweet spice often used to flavor desserts. Historically cinnamon was likely one of the first spices used in trading. There are records of it being used from biblical times, and it used to be as valuable as gold. Because of its high value, it was given as a gift to monarchs. It was also used by Egyptians in embalming.
Medicinally cinnamon has been used for colds and coughs for centuries. The oil may still be used today as an antifungal, antiviral, antibacterial, antiseptic, astringent, aphrodisiac, germicide, and digestive aid.
Aromatically the soothing, earthy scent of cinnamon is both stimulating and comforting.
